60th Meeting

Agreeable to a previous arrangement, The Home Interest met at Dr. F. Thomas, 1st mo 1st 1876, in place of E.P.Thomas. In consequence of a lecture to be delivered by J R Taylor at the Lyceum. we gathered at an early hour, and were called to order by A. E. Harshorne as foreman, about three O'clock. As we have made a good beginning, by meeting as early in the first day of the year, is it not desirable to keep it up by meeting punctually at 4, O, clock, Soon after the house was called to order the attention of the company was attracted to a basket containing some extra large parsnips, salsify, & carrots, raised by Frederick Stabler the sight of which gave rise to many questions as to how they were raised, where the seed came from etc. Philip Stabler has trouble with his celery not bleaching. He has had much advice in past of which he has followed, and yet the celery is not satisfactory.

3rd When is the best time to trim Raspberries? Cut out the old wood soon after bearing, and cut back the new growth, in the fall, though some prefer waiting until spring.

H Brooke, with twelve members present. After reading the minutes of the last meeting at this place, the Foreman proposed to walk out, but the invitation was declined on account of the cold, and mud, and the minutes of the last meeting were called for & read. Pattie K Stabler asked to be released from serving on the Book Committee. But the Society not feeling willing to lose her valuable services, she was continued. Dr. F. Thomas made a motion that each member of the Book Club shall assist the committee, by sending to any one of them, the names of two or three books, subject to their approval. Quite a number of the members of the Book Club complain that the books are not passed promptly. Nothing definite was decided on, as to what course to pursue in the case.

1st Question What is the neighborhood price for a weeks washing, done at the washers home, when everything is found?
