Wed. July 22d, 1896.

Rather cooler early this morning
but soon grew hot & close
again. I made a ladder for
use in the ice house etc.
I wrote to my friend F. Tyson,
went up to the store & P.O.
several times. It rained very
hard last evening about bedtime.
making the ground very
muddy today. Willie came
over again on the bicycle
and took tea with us before
returning. Hallie Lea also
rode her bicycle about tea
time. She & Willie went
back together about dusk.
Edward finished fixing the office
electric bell, which has been
out of order for some time.

Thur. July 23d, 1896.

This has been a lovely day
cool breeze from N.W. Edwd
drove over to "Eldon" &"Riverside"
taking his aunt Harriet to "Eldon"
they came home to dinner.
Afternoon Herbert arrived
from Philadelphia, he rode
his bicycle from Laurel
arriving here about 4.o'clock
Willie also came and we all
went up to see a base ball game
in Mary Gilpins field, the boys
from Sherwood school played
against the old Sandy Spring
nine & beat them 9 to 4.
Hallie Lea called again
about supper time.
