SUN. JAN. 12th, 1896

It was clear and bright until
afternoon when it clouded
over, and again looks like
snow or rain. Willie & Edwd
went to the river. (Haviland's
dam) skating & were gone until
about 3 p.m. I went
to meeting & heard an excellent
sermon from Edwd Farquhar
on the "negative & positive"
commands of the scriptures
Willie & Fanny went back to
"Fairfield" before supper time.
Edwd put in some window
glass that the boys had broken
at Sherwood School house
Willie helping him. Many
persons went skating on the
river. The skating being unusually
good.

MON. JAN. 13th, 1896

Still raw & chilly. I felt quite
unwell. Stiff & rhuematic.
Afternoon I rode to Ashton
on horseback. Went to the store
both morning & afternoon for
the mail. After school Edward
went skating on Bentley's pond.
Lizzie Scott called & left some
nice apples & scrapple.
