Emma King came & washed
for Harriet. I drove down to
Jehu Bowen's and Ashton
Afternoon I drove over to
Mary. L. Robert's and home
before supper time, Willie
commenced husking corn in
M L Robert's field, for Jno C
Bentley @ 22 cts pr barrel.
Bro: Richard called. Edward's
pet squirrel got out of its
cage (little Bessie leting it
out) and after a long time
he got it "coaxed" back into
the cage & pulled the door shut
with a string extending into the
dining room window. "Phil
Robison took tea with Edwd:
After tea W went up to the
store for sugar etc.

OCTOBER, THURSDAY 20th 1887.

Cloudy & drizzling all
the fornoon & in the afternoon
it settled into a steady rain
which continued up to bed time
promising a rainy night. Jehu
Bowen's people sent me $2.00
from Ruth Anna & I sent them
a prescription & advice.
Afgternoon I opened some drains
around the house to carry off
the water. My "pump stalk"
drain pipe seems to answer
very well in front of the road
gate, but I fear it would
not be large enough in the
event of a very heavy rain
