71 Clear & Cloudy S.W.
August, Saturday 6th 1887

I slept none last night
but feel pretty well again
except that I am extremely
weak
and tremulous and
unable to bear the heat
especially in the sun.
was sent for and went to
"Osceola" to prescribe for
Jno M Smith. I took Edwd
with me intending to drive
on over to Riverside but
found I could not bear
the heat & came home.
Afternoon Charley & Willie
went to Riverside again
to have a "swim". Thunder
gusts passed both north
& south of us and it is
cooler since. Miss Mary
Fowler was in to consult me
(soon after breakfast) about
her aunt Lizzie and I went
over to see after her in the
evening. I am quite anxious
about her case.

August, Sunday 7th 1887

Delightfully cool and
"breezy" this morning; so cool
that I put on a black coat &
took a wollen lap robe in the
buggy when I took Harriet
over to call at Riverside and
called at "Osceola" on way
home to see J M Smith again
home by 11 a.m. Mr Andrew
Shaffer called for advice &
medicine. Charley & Dora
went to Elton in the buggy
& Willie on the bicycle
the latter expecting to stay
& help E went about his
threshing. C & D came
home about 11 p.m. after
the moon was up.
Farrall's daughter "Sarah
Lizzie" was here for advice
& medicine having
a high fever, headache etc.
