Monday Oct 14th
Went to Butcher Hopkins. WS Bonds
and W Murphy's
After tea Mrs Platt Jr: came for me
to attend his wife in confinement
arrived there after "all was over," went
on to Riverside and rode home in company
with Charley and Frank Gilpin who had
gone there earlier in the evening.

Tuesday Oct 15th Clear
Pump makers Pierce and Moore came to
renovate our pump. Took "Polly" to
Samuel Budd's and had two new shoes put on
"in front". Had two tires cut on buggy.
"(off fore and near hind wheel") at Sam Budd's
Went to Riverside and brought home the "wagonette"
to go to the races in tomorrow at
Rockville. After tea Bro Chas came
over and we played [Euchne?] until
about 10 o'clock p.m.

Wednesday Oct 16th
Started after an early breakfast
with my horses to Bro Cs "wagonette" for
"the Races" at Rockville taking with
me Bro: Chas, his son Richard, and my sons
Charley and Willie. Witnessed some good
trotting, hurdle, racing, greasy pole
climbing, greasy pig catching, wheelbarrow
and "sack racing" and reached home
about 8 p.m.

Thursday Oct 17th Clear windy
Took Harriet Dora and Edwd with me (in the
wagonette) to "Brighton". called at George
Stabler's and Riverside where I left Cha's
vehicle and brought Harriet and baby home
in my own buggy. Left Dora there to
gather chestnuts. Sent Israel Budd to
B Rush Roberts and he brought home 25 lbs
of hay. Ernest brought Dora home
about dark. Had some music in the
evening also [Euchne?].
