I sent you sundry papers,
I am a Colonel in the Army
of 25th August 88
and further comm[an]ded The
21st Regimental District (RSF)
from the 21st January 1891
till I reached the age limit
when Col C.E. Browne succeeded
me in the 21st R Dist.
The Reg[imen]tal Districts were started
when the Regts were localised
The 1st C.O.
was Col W. Forbes McBean
from the St Helena Regt.
2nd - Col Allan fr the Welch Regt.
3rd - Col Bainbridge R S.F
4th - Col F.G. Jackson R S.F
5th - Col E.C. Brown R S.F
6th - Col W.A. Yule (PSC.) R S F
7th - Col E.E. Carr C.B. R S F.
Then the Regt. Districts
were discontinued & I think
Col. Carr was made officer in
charge of Records in [H?]
I also send you an
extract of my record, copied
from 1895 Annual Army
List.
also a copy, on the same
paper, of annual Army list
1819 giving the Colonel's
list of succession as Regards
the 21st Regt of Foos [Fusilier.
and the Colonels of
the same Regt from the
time I joined in March 1858
until now.
Col: Hamilton I have not
the dates of he came after
Sir De Lacy Evans death, &
before F. Marshal Haines' appointment
(Of course I know all
about the old Scots "z" having
the value of "y" English.)
