Kingston May 29th 1882

A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City
of Kingston was held this day Present

His Worship the Mayor

Aldermen
Allen, John Carson, R.J. Carson, Clements
Craig, Creeggan, Downing, Dupuis, Gordon
Irving, Law, Little, McCammon, McGuire
McIntyre, Quigley, Redden

The Clerk read the minutes of the two last meetings

The Mayor stated that a deputation consisting
of Messrs Henry Wilmott and J.H. Metcalfe was present
In Re the holding of the Provincial Fair in Kingston this
year.

Communications from William Ferguson and
John Gaskin Esquire were read in reference to same

The Council went into Committee of the whole to
hear the deputation and the explanations of the Mayor

Ald: Dupuis in the Chair

The Council resumed

The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the
following Resolutions adopted in Committee

On motion of Ald: Creeggan seconded by Ald: Quigley
Ordered, that the action taken by His Worship
The Mayor in reference to the Provincial Fair be sustained
by this Council

On motion of Ald: McIntyre seconded by Ald: R.J. Carson

Resolved, that in the opinion of this Council the
utmost unanimity should prevail between the representatives
of the City and County in regard to the approaching
exhibition in order to its complete success; that this
Council desires to record its anxiety to do all in its
power to achieve this happy result, and its trust that
the County will Cooperate with the City to accomplish the
same, that having heard the explanations of Messrs Wilmot
and Metcalfe and their Worships the Warden of the County
and the Mayor of the City, this Council is further of
opinion that the difficulty spoken of by the deputation
is susceptible of easy solution and that Mr Sheriff Ferguson
be urged to resume his place in the association, where for so
many years his services have been marked by great usefulness

On motion of Ald: McGuire seconded by Ald: McIntyre
Ordered, that the County having two members and the association
having two members the representatives for the City on the Executive
Committee for the approaching Fair shall be as follows: His
Worship The Mayor and Aldermen, Irving, McIntyre, Allen and R.J. Carson
The Report was received and adopted

On Motion the Council adjourned
