Ordered, That a sum equal to the amount of the rent
of the Hall be granted in answer to the prayer of the petition
of the Ladies of the Sydenham Street Church

was read requesting the Council to erect a Gas
Lamp post on Ontario Street between Earl and Gore Streets

asking for compensation for land taken in the opening of

William Martin, and Thomas Hanley respecting taxes

Ordered, That the petitions in reference to taxes be
referred to the Court of Revision

Ald JP GIldersleeve brought up the petition of Thomas
F Taylor and 15 others respecting taxes on vessels

On motion of Ald JP Gildersleeve seconded by Ald Smythe
Ordered, That the petition of Thomas F Taylor
and others respecting taxation of vessels be referred
to the Court of Revision to report

Ald Allen brought up the pettiion of Richard
Carney praying for a remission of Carters License

Ald Gaskin from the Committee on Finance
and Accounts brought up a Report (Number 110, Book E)
which was read and adopted

The Mayor here read the minutes of the Police
Commissioners relative to certain changes which lately
took place in the Police Force and stating that Mr Edwin
Horsey was appointed Chief of Police

Ald RJ Carson introduced a By Law to appoint
Deputy Returning Officers and places for
holding the next ensuing elections for the City of Kingston
which was read a first time

The 29th Rule was suspended and the Council went
into Committee of the whole on the second reading
