This collection comprises records of paintings and drawings submitted to the Stationers’ Company for copyright protection between 1862 and 1912. The records are entry forms containing information about the creative works being submitted for copyright protection, with attached samples of those creative works. The details found in the entry forms include:

Description of work: Oil painting. Size 6 ft 0 in x 3 ft 6 in. Our Gentlemen Riders. Containing portraits of 12 gentlement riders viz Mr Berill, Hon G Lambton, T Spence, Mr Hope Johnstone, D Thirlwall, A Coventry, Hugh Owen, Capt Fisher, Mr Brocklehurst, Capt W B Morris, Capt Lee Barber, Abingdon, all on horses going at full gallop. Background spectators, shed, beech trees &c. (All riders in racing colours).

Description of work: Oil painting entitled "Va Victis". An eagle and a wolf fighting over a kid on a rocky mountain. The eagle has its left talon in the wolf. The wolf is on its side against the rock. The eagle is about to strike the wolf with its right talon. Steep rocks on the right. Another eagle is seen approaching in the distance.
