Sugar Plum Loaf

1 c. milk 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 t. sugar 1 beaten egg 1 t. salt 1/4 t. nutmeg 1 cake yeast 1/2 t. vanilla 1/2 c. lukewarm water 2 c. flour 1 1/2 c. flour 1 c. seeded raisins 1/4 c. short. candied cherries

Combine milk, sug. & salt. Add yeast softened in water Add flour, ( 1 1/2 c.) & beat. Cream short., sug., egg Add vanilla & nutmeg. Beat Add remaining ingreds, mix to soft dough; Let rest 10 min, Knead Cover with damp cloth Let rise till double. Punch down Let rise - double Put in pans; Let rise 375°

Corn Spoon Bread

Put 1 T. butter, 1 1/2 t. salt, 1 c. yellow cornmeal into 2 c. boiling water in top of double boiler. Stir until thick. Place in bowl and allow to cool.

Beat 4 egg yolks into 1 c. milk and beat into corn mix. Mix thoroughly 1/2 c. flour, 2 T. sugar 2 T. B. P. and add to first mixture. Beat 4 egg whites very stiff and fold in. Fill buttered baking dish half full.

Very hot oven - 1/2 hour Serve hot.
