people and just be friends with them. My plans for the future as far as work goes; well Mrs Van Waters thats a long way off (maby 7 years) by then I might not be able to help anybody but myself the way things are going today in this word. But I would like a chance at helping people, or social work. I remember when I was a little thing I wanted to be an astronaut and go to the moon. Well thats me I'm always up in the air with high flying dreams that I wish could come true. But I have found the best way to get any place in life is to stay on your own two feet on the ground! it will be doing outside when and if I do get a parole. But I'm always open for suggestions you know. What I don't want is to go back to the dark life I did lead while I was lost on the streets. It was a dreadful sort of life, you know.

My Mother is a Catholic and I was always brought up in a Catholic family. I was even an altar boy once, way back when I Was a kid living in Roxbery I slowly drifted away from religion when I left home, and I guess I still remain drifting. Altho I like Father Foley very much and I enjoy talking to him when I get the chance to. He is a very nice man and I do like him alot. He has told me about you and he respects you

About your books, I havent been able to find any out in our library. Mayby its out or something. I had the guard check today for me and its not there. I would really appreciat reading your books that you have written, plus that book of yourself "The Lady at Box 99". If it could be possible I would really like to see them. I should confess to you that I do know a little about you, from being with Jerry for so long. He used to talk to me about you often. And I listened and never thought that I would be here writing to you. I am very concerned

about your recovery frm your two operations, I pray that you will be well again soon, and I firmly believe that you will because a woman with your strength and character can pull through the toughest.

Ill be very happy to know that you will let Jerry know we are corresponding. He will like that very much. Well Dr. Van Waters I guess I better close for now, and I think your eyes are probly tired as mine are (its pretty late), I just get carried away sometimes and write and write and write.

I want to thank you again from my heart for your most gracious response to my letter, thank you and I remain

Sincerely yours

Jon Furtado
