situations as I will [??] if I could work with them on my relase. No, I have not read your book "Lady at Box 99," but Im looking foward to reading it, I asked Father Foley if he could find it for me and he said he would try and look for it. He should be seeing me in a couple of weeks so Ill know by then. He really is a nice man, he keeps in contact with Jerry often and lets me know how he is doing. And he lets Jerry know how Im doing also so that makes me happy as I know it makes Jerry happy also. Oh, did you know that Im an......uncle!! doing real good. He walks with a cane but he is strong and soon will be back to normal. He has had over 12 operations on his legs. And he still has metal in him in place. But he is all in one piece and thats what counts. Im proud of him because he has made good so far in life. And his wife is a very nice and beautiful woman, He met her at the hospital when he came home and they just made it right off. Ive met her a couple of times and we get along great. She is very open minded about things and very understandable. My Brothers name is Paul and his wifes name is Julie I have one sister and another brother but they are from my step father but I love them also. I haven't seen them for years but I remember them. born. But my Mother sent me up some pictures of them. I look at them often and wish I could see them just once. But that wouldn't be to wise, they so young they wouldn't really understand me or my situation here in prison. So I feel its best that they forget me, and maby someday Ill drop in on them and say hi.

Well Miriam its pretty late its about 1:00 in the morning and I guess I better close for now. Ill write again soon, and Ill be in a more better mood. Just writing to you tonight made me feel better all ready. Prison does make a person lonely at times and they have to talk or write to somebody who understands and cares. I love you from my heart Miriam and I remain

Respectfully with love Johnnie

Dear Dr. Van Waters

Thanks for your very nice letter of December 23rd, and for your Season's Greetings.

Suit has been filed by Max D. Stern, Esq. for Gerry and John Furtado in the Federal District Court, and is before Judge Garrity. There has been an argument before Judge Garrity, who has issued a temporary restraining order against the defendants, the Commisioner and officers from opening any letters between Gerry and Mr. Furtado.

In the meantime, through Gerry's father, Mr. Stern was informed that an inmate had attacked Gerry while he was taking a shower. It was under suspicious circumstances, as the guard only allows one man out of his cell at a time. Gerry was the last man in has block to be let out for his shower, and this other inmate was let out by the guard, and then the attack occurred.

I told Mr. Stern about Mr. Flanagan being sent from Walpole to Concord, but Mr. Stern is asking that he be transferred back to Walpole as a matter of convenience so that both his clients will be at Walpole.

I gave Mrs. Cross your Christmas greeting and love. She is about the same as when I last wrote you.

Sincerely yours,

Claude B. Cross
