To the City Council of the city of Fort Worth, Texas.
Gentlemen:
The city tax records show parts of Lots Nos. One (1) and Two (2) in Grangers Second Addition, east of the Rock Island Railroad, to be deliquent for the years 1894-1895-1896-1897, and that part of Lot No. Three (3) east of the railroad, delinquent for 1895-1896 and 1897; these taxes amount to $24.69. This is an excessive rendition as the strip of land at one and is only ten feet wide, and runs a little larger at the other end. I bought the part of Lot Three (3) east of the railroad for $25.00, about three years ago, and have paid taxes on it since. The other two pieces cost me between $50.00 and $75.00, making less than $100.00 for all three pieces. I believe that a rendition of the three peices at $75.00 for the year 18951896-1897 would be all that the land was worth, and that a rendition of $50.00 for Lots Nos. 1 and 2, in 1904, would be all that property was worth. At that rendition the taxes would be $6.30.
I therefore ask your Honorable Body to permit me to pay this sum in satisfaction of said taxes. It should be remembered that the Rock Island Railroad pays taxes on nealy all of these lots. I am perfectly willing to put the valuation at the full price that the lits would have brought on the market at the time the renditions were made.
Find attached statement of the city tax collector,
Respectfully,
W.S Essex
