Physick & Surgery.

Excellent Head pills.

Take of the best Aloes 2 ounces, of mastick half an ounce, of the leaves
of marjoran 2 dragms, of Salt of wormwood one dragme; lett all these be
finely poudred & made up in a mass with Syrup of Colts-foot.

For a tickling Cough. Doctor Bains.

Take 4 ounces of conserve of read roses, 4 ounces of raisins of the Sun
the Stones taken out, 2 ounces of browne Sugar candy, 6 drops of Oyle of Sulphur
4 drops of oyle of Vitriol. Beate the raisins Very Small & the Sugar candy in
a Stone mortar, So mix it well & take every morning & att night going to bed,
the quantity of a nuttmegg.

For the Same, A Fuming Pouder.

Take of Labdanum, Storax, Calaminth of each 2 dragms; of white amber
Ben[j]oin of each a dragm, of cloves 3 dragms, of the leaves of marjoran poudred
a dragme, mingle them, & heat a tile read hott, whereon Sprinckle a litle of the
pouder & with a funell lett it ascend into the mouth and nose.

To Strenghten the Back.

Take 4 or 5. parsnups roots, the outside Scraped of or cutt of thin, then take
the next Substance but not the hard pitch in the midle, Stamp it Small, & putt it
into half a pinte of new mlk of the Strocking of a read Cow; then Straine it,
& Drink it fasting in the morning, and as much again att 4 in the afternoon
fasting both times 2 houres after. It is better without Sugar & cold then hott, take
it a Weeke together & then forbear a weeke, and then if need be, take it again.

For a Veine brocken bleeding within. the Same Doctor

Three drops of the distilled oyle of Amber in possett drinck.
For the pills anoynt them with may butter.

Difficulty of Breathing.

Take 4 or 5. drops of balsam sulphuris, Tare turbinthinatus dissolved
in 2 ounces of Syrup [In]cubes. Lick frequently of it. It is excellent also for the Cough

Collick. of the same Doctor

Take 3 long pepper corns, 3 bay berries all in pouder, drinck it in a draught
of warme bear. It is present ease.

Another.

Take the Smocke of Tobaco for a glister.

For the paine of the Stomack.

Take of the pouder of bay-berries & Juniper berries beaten and finely Searcht
half an ounce, mingle it with pure honey, and take as much as a Small nuttmeg
in the morning & afternoon about 4 or 5 a clock. Approved.

For a Cough.

Take the yolk of an egg warme from the Hen, life honey the quantity of a nutt
megg or wallnutt, flower of sulphur as much as will lay upon a groat, mingle them
well. Take it 14 days together according to your strenght. tis good for young & old.

Cough, Cold & Consumption.

Take 2 gallons of good sweet worte, after it is mashed & before it is boiled
without hopps, boile it away to a gallon, then take it of the fire & lett it setle
an houre or two; then carefully poure of the cleare & boile it to a quarte, So
botle it. A Spoonfull of this syrup must be taken first in the morning & last
att night.

Dropsye.

Take of read Sage, wormwood & egrimony a Sufficient quantity, tye them
in a bundle, which putt in a vessell of new bear or ale, and drink nothing else
att meals also. Approved.

For the Hearing & to expell all ill humours out
of the Nose, ease pain & restore hearing.

Take a clove of garlick, peel it cleane & make 3 or 4 holes in the midle of it,
dip it in a litle english honey & putt it into your eares, putt a litle black wool
in after it, for that night, lye on the contrary side, & lett the eare that is stopt
be upright & the next night following; Use the other ear in the like manner,
& So lett him alter his course every other night, Use this for the Space of 6 or 7. night.

To restore Decayed Sight.

Take 3 dragms of tutty and as much Aloes in fine pouder, 3 dragms of fine
Sugar, 6 ounces of rose-water & as much of good white wine, mix all together
& putt it into a cleane glass well stopped, sett it in the Sun for a Month, Shaking
it once a day. Putt 3 or 4 drops into the eyes morning & evening. this recover the
sight as cleare as before.

Another. of the same Doctor

Take 2 or 3 new laid eggs, putt all out of them as cleare as you can, then
fill the Shells with spring water, So lett it boile a good while in embers, then
Skim of all the Skum with a feather, after putt as much Co[pprice] beaten Small,
into each of them, as the quantity of a small nutt, So lett it boile a litle while
after.

Another.

The read seed of wild Clarie putt into the eye, one att a time, cleanseth the eye
from watrish readness inflamations & paine, you may rowle them in honey if you
please. this has been given with good Success.

Falling Sickness.

The leaves of rue a litle dryed and applyed to the Soles of the feet warme &
{X}
woren constantly in the Sock[s] or Stockins.

For a Fistula of the same Doctor Bains

Take Avens, Betony, read bryer leaves, Sanicle, bugle, Dodle, chervile with Daisy roots & leaves,
Dandelyon with read Streak, mugwort, pimpernell, wormwood, plantin, ribwort, egrimony, of each
of these a handfull cleane picked & washed; Boile them in a botle of white wine, till you thinck
the Vertues of the hearbs are extracted, then Straine out the hearbs & boile the liquor again, putting
as much honey to it as will Sweeten it, Stirring it till it is dissolved. While it is thus boiling lett it
be Skummed. Drink of this six Spoonfull, morning & evening.

The Emplaster.

Take a quarte of the Strongest Ale or bear you can gett, boile it till it be thick that you may
Spread it for a plaster, Apply this to the Sore upon leather & renew it every twelve houres, clean
sing the sore first with warm white wine. A purge before & after will doe well. it is good for
any inward sore. Mistress Miller of Hampshire has been cureth of a fistula so of many year conti[nuance]
