Josie done a big washing and finished by twelve oclock.
Marvin Smith went to Altavista this evening. The three boys and I went with him. I had no business. He kindly offered to take me. I had a pleasant evening. We saw Mr Rice and Mr Rorer. I was glad to see them.
A cloudy morning and commenced raining a bout 9 in the morning. Ben and Owen had commenced to plow but had quit. Tom Edmons come at twelve for Ben to cut his hair the[n] he helped Ben chink the barn until they got done.
I got dinner.
Walter Layne come this evening to look at my cow. He said he would come in the morning and get her. Josie and I planted some butter beans to day. Josie went to Marvins for some meal. Mollie and Christenia was there.

A good day. The men chopped in the tobacco.
A clear windy day. Jim & Ben cut wood, Owen plowed. The children went to school. Josie ironed some and cut a dress out for her self.
I got dinner & churned.
Johnson Reynolds come by here, wanted to see the boys a bout selling guano.
I got a letter from Evylin Brumfield to day. 8 30 oclock
A good day. The boys worked on their new ground. Mr Owen plowed. I got the most of dinner this evening. I made some soap then went to Marvins. Come by the turnip patch & cut salit for tomorrows dinner. Josie made a waist for Henry. The baby has bin very cross this evening. Franklin is well and plays all the time. The children went to school.
A good day. Jim plowed in the new ground. Mr Owen plowed with two horses. Josie got dinner. I got breakfast & milked and churned. I made two pots of soup. I cut some salit for tomorrow. Carie come & cut some for her self. I cut Kate a mess & Reese carried it to her. Henry & Edna went to school. Ben borrowed John Hutchersons boots & ditched some this evening. Tonight Ben & Jim & Marvin has all gone to Strait Stone.
A good day. The land is so wet that they cant plow. Ben worked on a closet for Owen. Jim went to Clide Reynolds with potatoes that he had solde to Clide. Josie got dinner. I picked over some onions. Carrie & the children come a while this evening. Josie & Carrie cut some salit for dinner tomorrow. Ben & Marvin went to Strait Stone this evening to see Thomson a bout the road. Ben never got back until after 9 oclock.
A good day. Jim & Owen plowed this evening. Owen went to the mill this morning. Ben ditched some today. Josie has had the tooth ache all day. Carrie & the children come a little while this evening. All they talk is good roads. Denia sent me some seed beans. Cordie sent me some gourd seed. The children went to school. I sowed some on a quilt.

A clear colde windy day. Ben went with Johnson and Mollie and Christena to Danville. Jim and Owen plowed this evening. Josie washed this morning. I staid with Franklin & Mabel. Roy & Hazel Smith come and got some flowers this evening. Carrie & the children come a few minutes. Heard to night that the guano is at the Depot. Ben has gone to Mr Mayhews to see if he wont haul for them. Jim has gone to Marvins. Henry & Edna went to school. Dr [?] come over there.
Cloudy nearly all day. Ben and Mr Mayhew went to the island for guano. Mayhew hauled 4 [?] loads for the boys with his truck. Jim plowed in his new ground this evening. He plowed some in the garden and planted some things in the garden. Josie got dinner. She baked a cake. Henry & Edna went to school. This evening Josie & the children and I went to Marvins. I cut some turnip greens. Henry went to Aunt Kates after some peas.
A clear cool day. Ben plowed for Mr Mayhew. Jim planted some things in the garden. Owen plowed this evening. Josie & I done one thing an other all day. I went to Marvins a few minutes this evening. Carrie made Hazels hat last night. it is very pretty I think. Josie baked a cake and I killed a chicken for Sundays dinner. Mrs Owen sent us some light bread for supper. It is very nice.
Jim made a hot bed to day.
A cloudy day & a little rain. Jim & Owen plowed. Ben cleaned up the branch bank. I washed some this morning. Kate Harvey come a few minutes this evening. I went with her as far as Marvins. I cut some salit for dinner tomorrow. Josie got dinner and ironed some to night. She looked in the range with Mabel in her arms. Mabel put her foot out and touched the hot door and burnt her self. I hope not bad.
A good day. Jim & Owen plowed. Ben went to see some men. This evening Ben went to Gretna. I went two. Nellie & Evylin come with us home. I am glad to see them. We saw Grace and Kate as we come home. Charley Harvey is here tonight. Ben has gone to the school house to night. Heard to day that Ren Worsham & George Blair Mr Hutcherson & Mr Anderson went to Chatham to day.
A cloudy day. Ben and Ben plowed until noon this evening. Ben [?] & Nellie and Evylin to [?] on their way home Effie Brumfield stayed with us last night. She went home as Ben went. Josie & I got dinner. I went to [?] this evening. [Dr?] and Mrs Owen come while I was there to see Marvin about the road. Mabel is not well to night. A cloudy morning and clear this evening. Ben went to Chatham. The road question was decided to day. Carrie & the children spent the day with us. Ben & Marvin and Jim was in Chatham. Mr Owen plowed this evening. Ben brought some fish home tonight. I killed a chicken today. Mabel has bin sick all day. Jim & Ben [word omitted][?]Marvin to night.
A beautiful day. The men plowed all day today. Mabel is sick. I went off fishing. Did not catch anything much. I bought 7 pounds of fish. Gave Carrie a part of them. Grace carried me. I was glad to go but hated to leave the sick baby and Josie. I know I will not go much more any way. Mollie was here this evening and Carrie was here a few minutes today. I am always troubled a bout some thing. Now it is the little babe. I do hope she will soon get well.

We had fish from the river for breakfast. Josie sewed some. I got breakfast and dinner this evening. I went to Marvins a few minutes. Jim brought a little pig for us to feed up and try to make a hog.
A good day. Cool for this time of year. Ben plowed with two horses. Jim clean up the ground for him to plow. Mabel has cried most of the day. I got dinner and washed dishes. I went to Marvins a while this evening. The dogs broke up one of the hens this evening. Edna has bin crying with the tooth ache. Jim & Ben has gone to Marvins tonight.

A bright cool day. Jim got up roots [?] in the new ground. Ben went to the island for guano late this evening. Ben & Owen plowed. Henry went to George Blairs for dahalia roots that Cordie gave me. Floid Reynolds come for milk. Josie got dinner. She put out some clothes that she washed Monday. I went to Marvins as usual. Come home and staid with the children while Josie went to the plant bed for salit. 9 oclock

Martha Miller was there helping her with the work a few days. I am glad she could get her. We need help but cant get any.
A good morning. A very windy evening. Jim & Owen plowed all day. Ben cleaned up the land. Josie got dinner. This evening she cut out a dress and made it finished ready to wear. I washed some and planted some flowers that Cordie gave me. Mollie Reynolds come this morning and got a bucket of milk and some lillie of the valey for Reubin. A clear cool day. Ben & Owen planted corn. Jim plowed in the new ground. Josie got dinner. She went to Marvins a few minutes this evening. I got breakfast this morning and milked the cows and fed the chickens. Worked a little in the garden then went to Kate Harveys and eat dinner then Kate & I went to Mags and staid a while then come home and fed the chickens then went to the plant bed for salit [?] milked.
Cloudy this morning. Clear this evening. The men folks plowed & harrowed on their land all day. Josie sewed a little and helped get dinner. I went to Mr Owens. Mrs Dews & Mrs. Scruggs was there. We had a pleasant evening. Carrie come here a few minutes. I would of bin glad if I had bin at home.

A good day. Jim & Ben went to Long Island for guano. Ben & Henry went a gain this evening. Got home a bout 10 oclock at night. Owen plowed. Josie finished Edna dress. I got dinner. Carrie and her little children come a little while. Carrie washed to day. Ben got 100 of sugar from Thomson. Paid 22 cts per pound. That is the highest that I ever paid for shugar.

A good day. The boys planted some tobacco today and plowed some. Josie and I got dinner. I churned this evening. I went to Marvins. Got some bean seed and some butter beans. I planted the beans and gave the butter beans to Mrs Owen. Today is Lizzie Bennetts birth day. Henry & Edna droped plants. Henry pulled off my shoes tonight for me. 9 oclock
A beautiful day. Ben plowed in his corn. Jim worked in his tobacco until twelve. This evening Jim & Ben and Marvin went to Motleys Mill to a road meeting. They got back a bout sundown. Josie ironed all the morning and done the most of getting dinner. This evening she bathed the children. Ada & Davis Hutch erson come over here to tell me that they would take me to meeting tomorrow.
