A bad day rained most of the evening and still raining. Jim went to Chatham Marvin carried him. Ben went for [Guave] carried a log to the mill. Henry went with him. John went to see Corrie a  this morning John and henry went to Strail Stone this evening. They went horse back. We had fried chicken for dinner. The first that we had killed this spring. To night is a [??ny] bad time on little chickens hope it will quit raining soon.
A Beautiful day. We got up at three oclock and got breakfast for Ben. He started for Gretna Marvin went two. They got there OK but the tobacco solde for so near nothing they loaded it on and brought it home.
Jim stripped on his all day. Josie got dinner. I sewed on my quilt in the morning in the evening I went to George Bliars. They were stripping tobacco at Blairs. Ren & Ethel Worsham and Cordie Blair was gone to LynchBurg. Josie and the little children went to see Carrie a while.
Ben never got home until after nine oclock tonight.
A good day. Warm for November Jim worked on tobacco. John Hutcherson went to Danville. He had tobacco for Mr Kent & Marvin and Ben. I do hope it may sell so that they will be paid for carrieing it to Danville. Alcie Callant[?] washed for Josie today. Josie and I got dinner. This evening Cordie Blair come to see us this evening. The chldren went to school. Ben is in Danville to night if they had no bad luck.
A beautiful day for Nov. Ben put in some window glass this morning. This evening they worked on the pump at the school house. Did not get it fixed. Jim did not come home tonight. Denia and Cordie Blair come here this evening and then went to Mr Woodings. I am sorry I was not at home. I had ask Oscar Brumfield to take me fishing. He carried his mother and I to the river at White Falls. We caught 40 fish. I was so glad to go. I do love to go but when I get home and can see what a fool they think I am then I wish I had staid at home. I have finished twenty squares for Josies quilt. nine oclock at night
A nice day. The menfolks worked on plant beds. Josie done a big washing. I staid with Franklin and the baby and got a little dinner. This evening Cordie & Nettie Blair come. I was glad to see them.
Henry and Edna went to school. We heard to night that Tom Peak got his hand cut off this morning. I am so sorry for him & his family. The Owen baby is some better to night. Today is Henry Brumfield's birth day. He was born in the date 1833. 8 oclock
A good day. Ben & Jim cut until twelve then Jim went to Lee Brumfields to a wood chopping. Ben went to Worshams saw mill for lumber. Josie done a big washing. I staid with the children. Denia & Mollie & Cordie come to see us this evening. I am so glad that they come. We heard today that Anderson Owen is very sick. I have bin up all day. I do hope that I may get well a gain. I dont want to be any trouble to any one.
A good day. Jim & Owen plowed this evening. Owen went to the mill this morning. Ben ditched some today. Josie has had the tooth ache all day. Carrie & the children come a little while this evening. All they talk is good roads. Denia sent me some seed beans. Cordie sent me some gourd seed. The children went to school. I sowed some on a quilt.

A bright cool day. Jim got up roots [?] in the new ground. Ben went to the island for guano late this evening. Ben & Owen plowed. Henry went to George Blairs for dahalia roots that Cordie gave me. Floid Reynolds come for milk. Josie got dinner. She put out some clothes that she washed Monday. I went to Marvins as usual. Come home and staid with the children while Josie went to the plant bed for salit. 9 oclock
A good morning. A very windy evening. Jim & Owen plowed all day. Ben cleaned up the land. Josie got dinner. This evening she cut out a dress and made it finished ready to wear. I washed some and planted some flowers that Cordie gave me. Mollie Reynolds come this morning and got a bucket of milk and some lillie of the valey for Reubin. I went to Carries a few minutes. 9:30 oclock
Cloudy most of the day and a hard rain this evening. The men worked in the tobacco when they could work. Josie got dinner. I washed dishes and churned. I dressed three chickens this evening. The association commence at Ricevill today. Cordie Blair come to see us this evening. She brough some beautiful dalahs all colors. I was very glad that she come. 8:35 oclock
A good day. The men moved and cut tobacco to day. Ben fired tobacco. Chanler Harvey and Dodson Bailiss come to the barn. Henry B and Cordie B come a few minutes this evening. Josie ironed some. Bettie Haley washed here today. Jim brought a barrel of flour from Marvins today. I picked a few butter beans today. I am going to shell some beans to night. 9 oclock
14th A good day. Ben worked on wheat land all. Jim tied tobacco. Mr Cawthorn come to day. He was here for dinner. Mr [?] was here to day. Wanted to sell Ben a truck. He did not buy. I went to George Blairs this evening. Denia and Cordie was gone to Rens. They come home. I had a pleasant evening.
A good day. Jim stripped tobacco all day. Josie & Mrs Car staid at home. Mrs Car got dinner and supper. Ben and Henry & Edna and I went today. We bought several things We got home a boug at dark. We had a good time as we could expect. Isila & Cordie Blair come this evening. I am glad that they come. They had not bin here in six mos. We left some things in Danville. I am very sorry. Hope we may get them yet.
A good day. All of the family staid at home until dinner except Henry. He went to Lee Brumfields and from there to Clide Reynols. He went on his wheel to Lees. Put in a barn and some one took it. I went to George Blairs. Did not see any of but Denia and Frank. Edna had made a fire and was going to the spring when I got home. All the Blair girls was gone to Strait Stone and Rens. Cordie was at Rens.
A colde day. Very disa greeable day. Ben & Jim stripped tobacco. The children went to school. Josie sewed some. I got dinner. We had chicken for dinner. The last of Jims game chickens. I went to George Blairs. Cordie is sick. She was some better than she has bin. I hope she may get well soon. Josie wrote to Carrie tonight. I am glad that she did. I miss Carrie so much I cant hardly stay at home.
A beautiful day. Ben went to Gretna. Carried some eggs & chicken and butter. Bought ship stuff & brand for the cows. Sugar & molasses for the folks. Jim come home from Chatham. He brought sallit. We are glad to get it. Mrs Car come today. We was glad to see her. I went to George Blairs. Dena and I worked on her quilt. It will be very pretty when she finishes it. Denia and Cordie were coming to see us if I had not went there. Hope they will come soon. Denia & Isla had washed this morning.
A good day. Ben & Jim put on the plantbed canvas today. Lee & Oscar come here today to see a bout buying some feed. They eat dinner with us. Miss Willie Wooding come this evening & Ila & Cordie Blair and Nettie Hendricks and her little baby. The baby is a beauty. I think Josie made a bed quilt lineing and put a quilt in the frames today and we quilted more than half of it. Cordie & Isla & Miss Willie all quilted some. Edna has bin sick today. She could not go to school.
A nice day. Jim gardened most of the day. Ben plowed in the rye. This evening Ben & I went to Gretna. We carried some butter and two bushel of onions. Solde them all to Mr. Rucker. Bought several things and come home and left most of them at Gretna. I am very much bothered about leaving them. Cordie Blair come this evening. I was glad to see her. Josie got most of the dinner and all of supper. She milked one of the cows. Today is Jims birth day.
A good day. Jim + Ben worked on their Tobacco land. Henry + Edna went to School. I got Dinner. Tommie washed dishes after Dinner. Mrs Kent come she brought us some nice cabbage she wanted to swap some eggs. Isla + Cordie Blair come to See us this evening. I was glad they came. Mabel has bin good today for her to be. Fannie made Mabel a Dress to day a pink gingham she is proud of it. After supper to night Mrs Cor + Ella Hubbard + Ron Hubbard come to see Posie. I am glad that they came to see her

A good day. Jim finished filling the barn with tobacco. This evening They cut for Mr Booker. Thelma spent the day here. I was glad to have her. Cordie Blair come this evening. She brought Josie some pretty flowers. I am always glad to see Cordie. I wish they all would come often. Josie has suffered a lot today. I am so sorry for her and cant do anything to help her. I went for snaps this evening. Mrs Car has strung them. Edna milked one cow this evening. She can be so much help when she will.
A good day. I am at [marv..]. We eat breakfast and Corrie got dinner. Reese staid at Altavista all night at Dr Smiths. He had bin to Lynchburg and had his eyes examined. He come a bout 9 oclock. We got bait and went to Owens pond. We caught some fish. We come home and eat dinner then went Galveston and fished a while. Come to Gretna and stoped. Bought several things and went home. There was a cloud in the night thundered and rained a little.
A good day. Jim stripped a little tobacco. Ben disked his land for oats. Nellie made some pickle and got dinner with Daisys help. Queen washed to day. I went to Reynols and spent most of the day. Jim Thomson & family come down there. Jim helped set up corn. Alice and the children & Mildred Fergerson come here to see Josie. [Ila?] & Cordie come to see Mrs Booker. She was not at the house and they come down here. Julia Fergerson come to her fathers today. Effie B come to spend the night.
A clear good day. Jim & Ben stripped tobacco all day. Henry and Edna went to Mr George Eemersons to a birth day party. Lawsons birth day. They had a fine time. Julia Emerson come with them home. Cordie Blair come to see Aunt Jo this evening. Josie has suffered awful this evening. Heard today that Mr Rufus Car got his finger cut very bad sawing wood. I got dinner. Had a turkey for dinner. We all enjoyed it very much. Fannie thought Hellen was comeing to stay until bed time. Billie Emerson & Henry & B & Lawson Emerson has gone hunting.
A clear cool day. Ben and Jim cemented a round a spring up in the field. John Ward shelled some corn. I am glad tonight. Fate[?] and Mollie and Denia come a little while Cordie come with her mother. I was so glad that they come. I get to want to see them all but cant. Hattie washed for me today. Lelia washed five bed quilts for me today. I am glad that washing is done. I got a small check today. I am glad of that interest on my bonds.
A good day. We all staid at home until after twelve. Then Ben carried the children to Mr. Jim Powers. I went with them as far Earnest Craddocks. I am so glad that I went. Irvin Craddock and family was there when I got there. Then Ken and Ethel three children and Len Motley and wife and Claud [Deboe?] and wife and Ruth Motley and Elley Craddock and Isla and Cordie Blair and Mr. Taz Anderson. I was glad to see all of them.
A good day. the men folks worked on the tobacco land except Ben. He went to Chatham to be on a jury. He did not want to go but could not get off. Hattie washed here today. I and three children went to George Blains. Denia was not at home. She had gone to Otho Blains to carrie Sallie some straw berries. They said that they had gathered 9 gallons at one time. Cordie had had some beautiful sweat peas.
A beautiful day. Jim and Ben both staid at the barns all day. Nellie and I got dinner. Henry went with Joe Edmons to Cedar Forest. I went to George Blairs. Otho and Sallie was there. They [sic] Denia and Isla and Cordie and Sallie and I went to Earl Bennet. Otho drove the car for us. Mrs Anderson and Jennie come over there. I was glad to be with them. Earl was cureing tobacco for the first time on Sunday. I cant think it so much harm as somethings that they do. Edna and Mabel and Franklin come to Georges but there was no one at home. Otho brought me home.
A good day. The men cut tobacco all day today. Edna is helping Nellie got [sic] dinner . I went to the field this morning. Nellie washed this evening. Denia and Cordie come this evening. Cordie brought me some flowers. Dalias. they are beautiful. I did look for Lizzie today. She did not come. Ben went to Mr Mayhews. He wanted to get a barn. He could not get it.
