Trustees.

At a meeting of the Trustees of Mount Auburn holden at the Cemetery . Present Messrs Story Bigelow Reed, Brimmer and Crocket it was voted.

Site of Chapel

That the site of the Chapel about to be built should be on a spot surveyed by Mr Higginson for that purpose, near Cypress and Pine Avenues.

That the Trustees will purchase if they can obtain

Purchase of Lots.

them on reasonable terms one or more of the lots numbered 88 - 699 - 700 & 446 for an entrance way to the Chapel.

Price of Lots.

That the term during which the new lots may be sold for $80 be extended to the first day of Au-gust next.

Pursuant to a notice issued by the Secretary, a meeting of the Trustees of Mount Auburn was holden at the office of C. P. Curtis on in the morning. Presents Messrs Story, Bigelow, C. P. Curtis. B. R Curtis Brimmer Gould, Reed, and Crockett.

Grading the Town Road.

Voted. That the committee who have in charge the erection of the iron fence, be authorized to apply to the proper town authorities in Cambridge and Watertown for leave to grade the main road in front of the Cemetery at a Section where it interfered with the construction of said fence.

Comee on building

Mr Brimmer was excused from serving on the Committee on building and Mr Reed was chosen to serve in his place.

Catacomb Tomb on Lot of C. W. Freeland. Permission requested to erect.

A communication having been received from Messrs Ware and Van Brunt, Architects, stating as the agents of Mr Chas. W. Freeland, his desire to erect a Catacomb Tomb on his Lot Nos 699 & 700, according to designs prepared by said Ware and Van Brunt; and asking permission to proceed with the erection; it was

Referred to Com. on Lots

Voted, – that said communication be referred to the Committee on Lots.

Monthly Schedule of Bills referred to President.

A file of bills with accompanying schedule having been submitted to the Board by the Treasurer, in compliance with the requirements of the By=Laws; on motion of Mr Turner,

Voted, – that said bills be referred to the President for his approval, and payment by the Treasurer if found correct.

Monthly Schedule of Sales of Lots appn by Com. on Lots; - acc. & placed on file.

A Statement of sales of Lot effected by the Superintendent and approved by the Committee on Lots, to , having been read by the Secretary, prepared by him in compliance with the requirements of the By=Laws, it was

Trustees.

Design upon Mt Auburn bill=head used by Patrick O'Brien on bills issued for services rend by him. Referred to Spec. Com. cons. of Prest & Mr Choate.

It having been made to appear by a communication from the Superintendent, dated enclosing copies of the bill=head used by the corporation in rendering ac/cs against proprietors, and of the bill=head used by Mr Patrick O'Brien in making out bills for work done by him, that the wood=cut of Mt Auburn gateway used on the corporation bill=head appeared also on the bill=head of Mr O'Brien, the result being the creation of an impression that Mr O'Brien was an agent of the corporation, or in some way connected therewith; after discussion, it was

Voted, – that the subject be referred to a special Committee consisting of the President and Mr Choate.

Chas. W. Freeland Removal of Trees in front of his Lots authorized by Prest

The President submitted and read a communication dated the , from Mr Charles W. Freeland addressed to the President and Trustees requesting permission to remove two trees standing in front of the catacomb tomb erected on his Lots Nos 699 and 700, for reasons specified. The President stated that he had intended to have laid the communication before the Trustees at the last meeting, but no quorum having been present at that time, and Mr Freeland having subsequently been sent by him at the Cemetery, he had on his own responsibility granted permission for the removal of the trees, which removal had been made. The President having requested that his action in the premises might be ratified by the Board, it was

Voted, – that the action of the President in granting permission for the removal of trees standing in front of the Lots of Mr Freeland is hereby ratified and approved.

Lot 504 - Perpetl. care of -

A communication was presented from Geo. A. Blaney Admr of the late Ambrose Blaney who was Executor of Caroline Blaney, late proprietor of Lot No. 584, accompanied with an extract from her will, in which her said Execr was directed to make an arrangement with the Trustees for the perpetual care of said lot & tomb.

Voted that the same be referred to the Committee on lots with full power to make a satisfactory arrangement thereupon.

The meeting was then dissolved. Attest Austin J. Coolidge Secretary.

The regular monthly meeting of the Trustees was held at the usual place .

There were present Messrs Bangs, Bigelow, Curtis, Gould, Kuhn & Tisdale.

The record of the last meeting was read.

Lots 699 + 700 _ Exchange of, for new lots [f]itted up by [the] Corporation authorized _

The President submitted a communication from Mr Tisdale, of the Committee upon Grounds &c. in which was a statement of expenses incurred in behalf of the Corporation in fitting up certain lots to be given - one to Messrs William & Samuel Phipps in exchange for lots No.s 699 & 700 owned by them respectively, & one to the heirs of Jabez Ellis, late proprietor of lot No. 609. in exchange for the same.
