Note; A man by the name of Cocroft is buried in this lot. Albert W. Conner states that he was a Spanish war veteran, came to Hartford, Vt., (he thinks from Rhode Island) and was brought to the Mary Hitchcock Hospital where he died of spotted fever. There is no record of him at the Hospital, the Town Clerk's office at White River Junction nor the Dept. of Vital Statistics at Concord. Mr. Conner states that he was buried by the American Woodsmen. Since Cocroft was a veteran, Mr. Conner wrote Washington asking if they would provide a stone. They replied that they could not since he was a deserter. As of , the Veterans' Bureau at Washington wrote me that they could give me no information from such data as I gave them.
