Charles Cushman Esq

Dear Sir

I have sent your gates to Wm Blake & Co. on Charles St corner of Allen St Boston, who I think will be most successful in repairing your gates, as they are accustomed to that class of work.

After looking them over, Mr Blake found that it would be almost impossible to restore them completely, and sent for me to come & see them. I went with two of our Trustees and after talking with Mr Blake, they decided that I have best inform you of the fact, and request you to see Mr Blake & make such arrangements as you saw fit.

These trustees propose to offer a reward of $10000 for the arrest & conviction of the parties concerned in the removal & injury of the gates, which out to be a sufficient inducement I should think to any parties in possession of any information to come forward, & I sincerely hope that we may succeed in punishing the guilty parties.

Respectfully J.W. Lovering Supt.
