Dear Sir
Your favor is recd. I think the Ampholopsis Vecchi would be perfectly satisfactory to you; at present they are rather hard to obtain, but we expect to receive some late in the fall or early next spring, and we will enter your order and our Gardener will set it out at the proper time
Respectfully James W. Lovering Supt. J.E.C.

Dear Sir,
Shall I enter in the catalogues the name of ____ Lenox, against lot 3628 on Halcyon Ave ? Lot 3672 Mound Ave [Amasa?] Winchester also appears to be unpaid for. Shall I enter that? $736 is amt. ow. Also 3727 - Fountain Av. [reported?] to Gen. J. S. Tyler Nov. 24/66?
Yours truly
Dear Sir,
Mr Chas. Merriam wishes you to report on sale at burial prices the space between lots 2922 and 3366, which by scale amounts to 140 f - i.e. 20 ft deep by 6 f front, and 8 ft back - On the matter of price he wished me to say that he though you ought to let them have it at $1.00 per foot. I gave him no assurance that you could do so, but told him I thought you would do what you considered to be just right.
As to the contents of space perhaps you had better measure it, although I don't doubt that this is practically correct.
Mrs Merriam is to be credited with the amount paid for space

Dear Sir
Your favor of the 4th inst is received & will have careful attention.
The lot has not suffered from neglect although I know the ivies are not as you would like to see them. I personaly examined the lot with the gardener several weeks ago and found several of the Japanese ivies dead (these were replaced at the earliest date the season would permit) and the ends of the ivies which run on the trellis were found to be dead (winter killed) in the roots. The [?] very vigorous much larger than any new plants which could be put in.
The gardener believed that by trimming the ivy & letting it start again from the roots the trellis would be more quickly covered than with new plants.
It has not been warm enough to put out madeira vines until now & they would not have borne the cold nights had they been put out. During the last two weeks we have lost many plants which are much more hardy than the vine and no [lesson?] has been so [backed?] as the present during my connection here.
Yrs very truly J.W. Lovering
