15, John Leathers called here on his return from C.Taylor's, said a Negro child belonging to Hub'd Taylor died last night of the Whooping Cough- J.Pendleton rode here & went to see Negro Will who he agreed to hire of G.Taylor for the present year at Twelve pounds. He dined here-after dinner I went to J.Taylor's. Col.Pendleton one of the Sheriffs who met about the choosing an elector was at J.Taylor's & said Edw'd Stevens had 82 votes more than Wm Cabell- and elected for District-
16, Hear that another of H.Taylor's negro children died last night of the Whooping-cough. G.C.Taylor & *William (son of Richard Taylor) got here from Caroline- I rec'd letters from Richard and Ben Taylor. The boys went after dinner to J.Taylor's & staid- [*Wm Rowley Taylor, son of Com.R.Taylor, b.June 11, 1772- WKA-]
17, G.C.T. & W.T. came from J.Taylor's, got their horses and went to Dade's mill to skate & slide. Capt Burnley, J.Taylor & son & J.Pendleton also went- they dined at Capt.Dade's-
18, [Sunday] My father, the boys & myself went to C.Taylor's, J.Taylor & family, J.Pendleton & do., J.Bowie Pendleton, Hubbard Taylor & Reuben Taylor dined there, the boys went at night to J.Taylor's. *Eliz.Chew there.

19, Smoky and thaw- G.C.T. & W.Taylor went to Capt.Herndon's mill to Skate and slide. John & Bowie Pendleton & J.Taylor jr went with them, and they went to J.Taylor's at night.
20, G.C.Taylor & Wm Taylor came over after breakfast. Reuben Taylor was here to dinner- Joseph Bell came with Moses Perry and offered my father a Mare for two of his. Thaw and misty weather. Most of the ice melted. My father rode to the Court house but returned to dinner.
21, My father sent Will to J.Pendleton at J.Taylors and went there-took his bond for hire for £12- and came back after breakfast- W.R.Taylor [Wm Rowley Taylor] set off for home- I wrote by him to Bro'r B.Taylor & Return'd the Patent of his Land he sent me to sell for him last Fall- I also wrote to bro'r Richard Taylor [Commodore Richard Taylor-WKA] & Col.James Taylor [IV. of Caroline-WKA] and requested the latter to pay 29/3 which I had paid Morris & Shifflett, to Richard Taylor- I went with G.Taylor to Mrs Thomas's to dinner. J.Taylor & family, J.Pendleton & do & Bowie Pendleton dined there, also J.Buckner. G.C.Taylor went to Col Madison's-
22, Snowed a little last night with hail, rain and sleet. Cloudy all day- James Taylor, John & Bowie Pendleton, Charles Taylor & Hub'd Taylor dined here- I returned H.Taylor the papers &c he left with me when he went to Kentucky
23, Very fine day, thawed the ice on trees &c.
24 Went to store, bought Patern for Breeches of Lee & paid himi 17/9 for Same. Amb. & Wm Madison, Uncle Taylor & Mr T.Bell there- Hear that Mr.Gilchrist was not elected but one Roane, an Elector. Cloudy, a few drops rain but not cold. very miry.
25, [Sunday] Dined at home- after dinner went to J.Taylor's and returned- Cloudy and some rain in the day, smart rain at night. some lightning.
26, Fine morning- went with my Father & G.C.T. to Court- saw Col Madison jr & Mr. Monroe, the Canidates for Member of Congress. Rec'd a letter from Rich'd Taylor dated 30 Dec'r with a spy-glass. Keg of Oysters & a ream of Brown Paper Rec'd my Certificates & Int Warrants, of Maj'r Moore- Lent C.Taylor a Dollar to pay Williamson. Got J.Smith to carry pattern for a pair Breeches & pair to measure by to A.Holmes.
27, Jos Clark was here, gave account of Stock and Tools to my father- He bought a hat of my for four dollars to pay by Christmas. Heard a Frog cry. J.Taylor here in evening- G.C.Taylor went to Uncle Taylor's at night. Rained much last night & do. this even'g, thunder &c.
