A Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City
of Kingston was held this day. Present
His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, Anglin, Dupuis, Gaskin, C.F. Gildersleeve
J.P. Gildersleeve, Harty, Irwin, Law, Maloney
McGuire, McMahon, McRossie, Pense, Snook,
Wilson
The Clerk read the minutes of last meeting
A Communication of William Glidden Secretary to
Board of License Commissioners was read asking for the use
of the room in the City Buildings occupied by the late Board
On motion of Ald. McRossie seconded by Ald: J.P. Gildersleeve
Ordered, that the Communication of William Glidden
asking for the use of the room adjoining the Police Station
for License Commissioners office be referred to the Committee
on City Property with power to act
A Communication from Johnston Orr was read Complaining
of Princess street Drain
On motion of Ald. McGuire seconded by Ald. Snook
Ordered that the Communication of Johnston Orr
be referred to the Committee on Streets with power to act
A Communication from Charles F Gildersleeve Esquire
President of the Kingston and Pembroke Railway Company was
read suggesting a meeting of the Council with the Directors of
the Company for the purpose of taking the report of Ald. Snook
Director on behalf of the City into Consideration
Ald: Snook moves seconded by Ald: Gildersleeve
That this Council meet the Board of Directors at the
Council Chamber next Monday at 7 30 OClock P.M as suggested
by the letter just read
In amendment
Ald: Pense moves seconded by Ald: McGuire
That the meeting of the Council with the Directors
of the Kingston and Pembroke Railway Company be held on
some date after the meeting of the Renfrew County Council
to be named by His Worship the Mayor which being put
was carried and the original motion was lost
A Communication from James McCammon was read
enclosing account for use of Weigh Scales Market No 2
On motion of Ald Fee seconded by Ald: Gaskin
Ordered, that the Communication of James McCammon
be referred to the Committee of the Market to report.
A Communication from James Agnew City Solicitor was
read stating notice of Trial has been served for the ensuing
assizes
A Communication from William Murray Auctioneer was
read
