Spice Cake -
(Mrs. Crawford)

1 1/2 cups of sugar
1/2 " butter or lard
3 eggs; well beaten
1 cup coffee; 1/2 cup milk
2 level teaspoon baking
powder, little salt, sifted in
3 cups full of flour.
Add last 2 cups raisins;
1/2 teaspoons each of
cinnamon and cloves.
The batter should be rather
stiff. Baked in a moderate
oven.

Keeps moist quite a while
baked in a mould or
two flat pans.
