Jack Morison was born in Wellington on August 10th 1921 and received his secondary education at Rongotai College up to matriculation standard. He was particularly interested in tennis as a sport. At the time of applying for War Service in Aircrew on December 19th 1940 he was employed as an architectural draughtsman by the Department of Housing Construction, Wellington.

Flying Officer Morison was enlisted at the Initial Training Wing, Levin on May 25th 1941 and was posted for his elementary training to Harewood on July 6th. He was transferred in October to Levin on being remustered from Airman-Pilot to Airman-Observer and embarked for Canada under the Empire Air Training Scheme on November 17th 1941.

On arriving in Canada Flying Officer Morison was posted to No. 6 Air Observers School, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in December. On March 15th 1942 he proceeded to No. 5 Bombing and Gunnery School Dafoe, Saskatchewan, where he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and awarded the Air Observers Badge on April 25th. He was further promoted to Pilot Officer on May 25th and to Flying Officer on November 25th 1942. Meanwhile he was transferred to No. 5 "M" Depot, Lachine, Quebec, in June 1942 for embarkation to New Zealand, returning to the Dominion on August 13th 1942. After a course at Nelson he was transferred to New Plymouth on a School of General Reconnaissance Course which he completed on November 14th 1942. He was then posted to No. 1 Operational Training Unit, Ohakea, in February 1943. He embarked for No. 6 Squadron, Suva, on May 25th 1943.

Flying Officer Morison was a passenger on a Catalina flying-boat reported missing on a flight from Fiji to New Zealand on June 5th. 1943. Subsequently the wreckage of the machine was discovered at Dravuni, 35 miles from Suva, and crew and passengers, including Flying Officer Morison were presumed to have lost their lives by drowning on the above date.
