Sergeant Morgan was the Wireless Operator of a Stirling bomber aircraft which took off on the night on the 9/10th November, 1942 in an attack over enemy territory. The aircraft failed to return to its base and all the members of the crew including Sergeant Morgan were classified as missing. Later information was received through the International Red Cross from an official German source that Sergeant Morgan had lost his life and was buried in the Protestant Cemetery, Alswede, about 22 miles from Osnabruck in Germany. In consequence he was reclassified to missing believed killed in action. In due course his death was officially presumed to have occurred on the 9th November 1942.

A Post War Casualty search revealed that the aircraft crashed in the District of Lashorst/Huffe and exploded on impact. All the crew including Sergeant Morgan were buried in a comrades grave at Alswede, Germany.
