438629 Sergeant Wilson ALEXANDER
Father : Mr. W. E. Alexander of Okaihau

Wilson Alexander was born at Okahura on November 3rd. 1924 and
was educated at the Okaihau Consolidated School, where he obtained
his Profciency Certificate. On leaving school he was engaged on his
father's farm and became a member of the Air Training Corps.

He was enlisted as airman-pilot under training at Harewood in
June, 1943, training there and at Woodbourne. He was awarded the
Flying Badge and promoted to the rank of Sergeant on September 23rd.
1944. Later he proceeded to Ohakea for further flying training.
He was flying solo in a Kittyhawk aircraft at Raumai on February 14th.
1945, when he crashed, losing his life in the accident.

Sergeant Alexander was buried in the St. Catherine's Church-
yard, Okaihau.
