Fertile spike solitary, or with one or two short additional ones at the base; fertile 3 to 6, remote the lowest near the root, oblong or cylindrical; perigynia ovoid-oblong, obscurely nerved, longer than the rather obtuse scale; chenium obovate, triquetrous, tapering at the base.
