115 Carex flaccosperma Dewey

Sterile spike solitary nearly sessile, or sometimes
on a long peduncle, short; fertile spikes 3 to 6, long
and cylindrical, somewhat erect, and loose-flowered
lower ones long peduncled, with long leafy
bracts, much exceeding the culm; perigynia
oblong-ovate, obtuse or emarginate, slightly
nerved, a little inflated; scale ovate acute, awned,
about two-thirds the length of the [crossed out] perigynium.
Culm twelve to eighteen inches high; -- flowers
in May. Wet grounds. --

Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Extends East to N. York, and south to
Texas and Florida
