My Dear Sir -

Looking over my notes to
day I came across yours of 1855 with the
outline of Geology of Wisconsin.

I have written to General Fairchild [enquiring?]
[whether?] my manuscript reports on the
Menomonie & the Bad River Country made
in 1858 & 1860 might not be revised &
perhaps condensed & published with a
map of reduced size.

In case this cannot be effected
might not a resolution be put through
your Legislature constituting you & myself
a Commission to prepare a general or
an abtract report upon the [illegible]
geology of the state & reissue your map.

I understand you was in this city during the
[Pit Hole?] trip & did not give me a call.
