there was not any name painted upon her, she
belonged to the vessel "Stockton" Packet" of Stockton which
was wrecked at Spurn Point on the 2nd preceeding_ of which
circumstance the master made a declaration before me
which at that time I numbered in the report Book 24
Kilnsea is about 5 or 6 miles North of Spurn Point - conse_
-quently the Boat might easily have drifted that distance
as some of her materials drifted to Withernsea which is 6 or 7
miles farther North - and we sold there - and at that
sale the Boat before mentioned was sold for 20s/_ although
she had been valued to be at £4- The Auctioneer having
no authority from me for the sale of the Boat._ The
purchaser then proceeded to {Withernsea} Kilnsea and
took her away_ offering Langhorn_ the man who
secured her 3s/4d as Salvage_ which he refused_ and
the Coast Guard Officer who had charge of the Boat being
about 2 miles from where she lay_ she was taken away
from the shore without his knowledge and consent, -
the Boat being valued at £7. There is due thereon to
Board of Trade, Commission________ " 7 .

consequently I called upon Messrs Brown, Atkinson & Co
Lloyds Agents at this Port, who directed the sale of the
effects of the "Stockton Packet" for the amount above stated
in order to enable me to settle the account _ but they
having settled with the owner_ they referred me
to him _ his address being:
Mr W. F. Marshall, Ship-Owner
Stockton_Upon_Tees.
But as neither myself _ nor Messrs Brown & Co - who have
also written to him on the subject can obtain a
reply_ I beg to bring the subject under the your
notice with a {for} view of proper steps being taken
to obtain a settlement of the account.
