I beg to acquaint you that I have forwarded
the same to Capt. Metcalfe to whom
I will thank you to exhibit the former
instructions received in which the
anchor is described - I trust that so small
a matter can be satisfacorily decided
without the presence of your friend
from Dundee - but should such
be found to be impracticable -
an event which I cannot contemplate -
I must consult the Board of Trade before I say one word about
expense. JS.

Capt. Metcalfe RN repecting the anchor 148 /1855 21 Feb/56
Dear Sir
I annex a further letter from Messrs
Bramble & Sons respecting anchor &c
148/1855 in which he states he has referred
back to instructions therein previously
furnished which clearly describe the
anchor in question - and which I
have requested them to shew to you
with such a Document before you
I trust you will be able to determine
the case - what are the reasons assigned
by the Salvors to prove that that the
Anchoris not that lost by the "Jean & Jessie"
If an anchor that is at Bridlington -
has at some former period -
been described by a person who is at
Dundee that in itself is pretty strong
proof of identity - I have informed Messrs-
Bramble that I have sent their letter
of yesterdays date to you - and I also
annex former papers that the
detail of the inquiry may be connected.
