The following petition was presented and upon action Mr. Joachim
seconded by Mr. Brown it was ordered that a contract be entered into:

Petition of Property Owner's on Park Street.
"We the undersigned, property holders on Park Street, Charletresville,
Va. are reliably informed that the contract has been awarded by the Honorable Commissioners
of this City to pave Park Street for a width of eighteen feet, which in our
opinion is too narrow; in our opinion the said Street should be at least 26 feet wide
where it is possible to make it so without damage to private property property adjacent thereto.

Therefore, we hereby severally agree and bind ourselves to pay at
rate herinafter set out, for the widening of the paving of said Street:

Where the Paving can be widened from 18feet to 24feet or less, at
the rate not to exceed $1.25 per lineal foot of our respective properties fronting
on said street, and where the paving can be widened from 18 feet to 28 feet, at the
rate not to exceed $1.75 per lineal foot of our respective properties fronting on said
Street, the said amounts to be paid when said paving is completed.

In the further consideration of the said agreement on our part,
it is distinctly understood and agreed that said City is to grade the space between
the present sidewalk curb to the curb of the paved streets.

Communication of Mr. Bennett to Dr. Haden
"June 27. 1923.

Dr. W. Dan Haden & Others,
Park Street.
Charlottesville, Virginia.

Gentlemen:

This will acknowledge receipt of your petition and confirmation
of a verbal conversation on the morning of June 26th, with Hon. J. R. Morris Mayor
and myself relative to the paving of Park Street between High Street and the City
Limits.

I have been authorized by the Commissioners to accept the proposition
you submitted which we understand to be as follows: Those signing the
petition agreeing to pay not to exceed $1.75 per lineal foot frontage for extra width
28 foot street, not to exceed $1.25 per lineal foot of frontage for extra width of
Street 23 feet or less and more than 18 feet. The city to grade the space between the
sidewalk and curb.

Payment to be made upon completion of pavement. In lieu of those not
signing the petition, namely; Mrs. Bennett, Mr. Walters, Mr. Trevillian and 1443 feet of
Mrs. Lyons, it is your intention to have several not living on Park Street sign up an
agreement to pay various amounts, this will possibly equal thefrontage on Park Street
not already signed for.

I would appreciate you advising me if this conforms with your understanding,
furnishing me with a list of the number of feet frontage of each signer and
of the amount you expect to have furnished by persons not living on Park Street.

Very truly yours,
(Signed) Boyd A. Bennett.

Donation of Mr. Jessup.
Mr. S. A Jessup voluntarily offered a donation of $10.00 to apply on
above.
