January 1917, Wednesday 17 FresNicourt 7 p.m. Yesterday to HOUDAIN and saw [weiley] who is not feeling well. Home & up to Fosse 10 for dinner [at ]No 5 [FCs] [sub] [Captains] [Cumming], Treleaven & Boswell . Lt. Col Templeton, maj. [Donaldson], capts Chapman and [Lowrence] there also - dinner most excellent. Poker after & home at 6 a.m. Cold all day and snowed considerably. About 4" on ground. Capt Douglos on leave tonight Raid by 4th [Brigade] 8:30 [then]went over & brought back 102 prisoners including 2 officers. Carried out by 20th and 201st
