Very fine weather. Nothing new. Saw friend of [unclear] no theatre yesterday & [unclear] [unclear] today. both times she [bowed?].

Montreal.

[unclear] & mild. Game of Poker at Club. Stood even - ahead on the whole. Went to Ritz Carlton with [McKenty?]. Place filled with officers & Tommies.

January SATURDAY 22 1916

Montreal.

Jack [unclear] arrived in town. Just the same as seven years ago when I last saw him. Rained heavy all A.M. Received through immigration dept the name of my friend in [unclear] 10 [Cav?] 89. Diagnosis about correct.

January SUNDAY 23 1916

Montreal.

Early church this A.M. Everything frozen over after yesterdays rain.
