Your Excellency:
From what I have read
concerning the case of Joe Hill now under
sentence of death in your state I am so
thoroughly convinced that Utah is about to
commit a judicial murder that I cannot re-
frain from protesting with all my might
againt the execution of that sentence.
A jury selected from a community whose
minds had been systematically prejudiced
day in and day out by newspaper articles
cleverly framed for that express purpose, was
simply incapable of rendering [?] and
unbiased verdict and I am of the firm
belief that had the prosecution been one half
as zealous in learning the actual truth about
the matter as they were determined to compass
this man's death, he would to day be walking
the streets a free man.
There is abroad in this land to day a
growing conviction in the minds of thousands
