Grant of Right-of-way to Town of Carrboro

The following resolution was, upon motion of Judge Mintz, seconded by Mr. Barber, adopted by unanimous vote:

WHEREAS, the Town of Carrboro is in the process of enlarging its sewer line system and has requested the following described right-of-way across the property of the University of North Carolina known as the Filter Plant Property:

The proposed sewer line would be located on University property which fronts on North side of Jones Ferry Road in the Town of Carrboro. The easement requested is a right-of-way 12 feet in width, the center line of which is described as follows: BEGINNING at a point in the North property line of the University of North Carolina which is located by measuring South 81 deg. 26 min. East 90 feet from an iron stake, the Northeast corner of the University property, and running thence South 22 deg. 34 min. East 255. 74 feet to an iron stake; thence South 11 deg. 39 min. East 350.00 feet to an iron stake; thence South 0 deg. 12 min. East 40.90 feet to the South property line of the University of North Carolina.

And, WHEREAS, the University administration has made an investigation of the proposed location of the said sewer line and has determined that the said line will not interfere with the use of the property by the University; and

WHEREAS, the Chancellor and the Business Manager of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill have recommended to the President and the Business Officer and Treasurer of the University that the request of the Town of Carrboro for the said right-of-way be approved; and

WHEREAS, the Committee on Real Property of the Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina has considered the said request of the Town of Carrboro and has recommended that the said request be granted;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina that it hereby approves the request of the Town of Carrboro and authorizes the University officials to present the said request to the North Carolina Department of Administration for consideration and action.

Sale of Weaver property at Leicester, North Carolina

WHEREAS, in December, 1950, Dr. William J. Weaver, of Leicester, North Carolina, donated a tract of land comprising 17.8 acres to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for the use and benefit of the John B. Weaver Student Loan Fund, which said fund was established by Dr. William J. Weaver in memory of his father; and

WHEREAS, in 1953 the North Carolina Highway Commission constructed a new road across one end of the said 17.8 acre tract, leaving approximately one-half acre on one side of the new highway and approximately 15 acres on the other side; and

WHEREAS, in February, 1962, the said one-half acre was sold by the State of North Carolina to Mr. David M. Snelson, of Leicester, North Carolina for a consideration of Four-hundred Dollars; and

WHEREAS, several inquiries have been made of the University concerning the possible sale of the land; and

WHEREAS, there is a need for the conversion of this property into money at this time in order to help meet the demand for loans for worthy students of the University, and in order to meet the purpose for which the Weaver Loan Fund was established; and

WHEREAS, the Chancellor and the Business Manager of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the President and the Business Officer and
