slow so I saw all the country then a greater part
of New York harbour oh it is grand - we had a very
good dinner on the boat - I got the scarf at the Battery
dear thoughtful Butler was there with a carriage to
bring us up - My room is quite a large well furnished
room on the second floor - with water & gass [sic] - hot & cold
bath [going?] & all conveniences near at hand - $1-50 a day
We are near Broad Way - We did not go out any last
evening - B. & Father came after tea and staid [sic] some
time - My own much adoard [sic] Father Oh Mother how
proud I am to be his daughter - I think his very
boots are honoured by belonging to him - I am
confounded how he can have an enemy - tis that
he is so far superior to all others - Dear Butler too
how I love him - but Mother darling - which of you
do I not love - oh so dearly - & so you know what warm
passionate love is glowing in my heart - I know that
I am not prepossessing in my manners or person -
but indeed I love you all so fondly - & want each
one to know & feel it -- I hope my precious children
are all well & have given you no trouble - dear
little ones how I miss them - it appears a month
since we parted - I long to see you all - my own little
Coney too - how did he like not having me at his
command - I hope he has been good - Oh my
dear Mother it was very kind of you to keep them
& as much as I miss their beloved company still it is
better for them - This morning William went down
