My dear Sir,

I belive I told you before I left Hillsboro that Mr Worth had written me agreeing to take $20 a piece for the mules (four) which he held my receipt for. The day before I left Hillsboro I sent him the money for the two I received & the one James Webb Jr. received. I intended seeing you that day but learned that you were not at home. I told Mr Worth in my letter of your absence and that I would communicate his decision to you before leaving town; which I failed to do & hence I trouble you with this letter. The receipt is in my name as receiving two mules for myself; one for you & one for Webb
