July 26th Wednesday
by the mangle room, on asking what they
were doing? Eliza Ellis came and said
she was "only asking Kate Cargill what
made want to run away."
Kate made her escape into the [underlined] dark [end underlined] dining room, Matron followed and ask what she
was doing in the dark? but she would not
come out, nor answer, until she found
they were bringing a light. she then said she "wished to go
out." she at length consented to retire because a promise was given her that she should be dismissed by one of the
ladies which would be [underlined] far [end underlined] more
[underlined] respectable [end underlined] than climbing over a wall like this.

Thursday 26th

will try to behave better in future.

Saturday 28th
Deborah Hardcastle continues to
behave well, her 12 months expire on
the 14th Sep'r she could take a situation as [underlined] head [end underlined]
nurse, or house Matrons maid
