July 22nd
Sabbath. Rev'd W. Mills preached 11 o clk,
all in attendence, clean and orderly.
Mr. P. Fletcher gave a short address 3 o clk
& Mr. Ayton in the eve'g.

Monday 23rd
Mr. Moore (Botanical Gardens) sent a dray load
of plants & shrubs and [underlined] two gardeners [end underlined] to plant them
they have been hard at work all day.

Tuesday 24th
Kate Cargill had a letter given to her
by the Ladies and was advised to remain
in the Refuge untill [until] her friends could
help her - she seems willing to do so.

Wednesday 25th
Wrote a reply to sympathize with
Eliz'th Cooper and try to encourage her
to bear her afflictions patiently, and to ask Gods
blessing upon the means used for her recovery,
and then 'all would be well"
M. A. O. Brien seems unhappy and does not settle
down to her work, really the girls seem
possessed with an evil spirit at times.
O that I were more earnest in prayer for them.
Mr. O Connor & Mr Robins held a little
meeting. directly after they had gone,
Matron went into the courtyard to order
the dining room light to be put out. 10 minutes
afterwards, looked out (before locking the house
doors) saw two women standing on the little garden
