Warm day again. Rang Willie. Nell Jordan rang me - she clings like a fly. Mrs M & Mrs B each came with Christmas book. I took bis. & plums to Ukrainians. Sweets to A. & Mrs A. She gave me cotton stockings & a dinner instead of Sunday. I went to Carlton to bank & shops. Rang the Dinhams. Ran telephone messages for As. Gave the postman 2/- & cigarettes.

Friday 26

Warm morning. Dead tired. Got up & pulled myself together for telephone calls to Marie McN. long call. Went to Glen for dinner at 1 pm. Jean Williamson also there & Arthur Crouch. In evening it came up cool & thunder showers. I wore my ancient light dress the mauve one made by Miss E. (Fletcher) Jones, first time I appeared in cool dress this season. Home before 10 dead exhausted. Did a few chores & to bed. Did not fall to sleep till after 3 because of irritation in eye. Bathed it in hot water at 1 p.m.

Saturday 27

Chilly grey day. Got a semi-peace because I had fended Nell Jordan off with a prevarication. Did a bit on Pixie. Thelma telephoned in afternoon to say she will bring Uncle & Lena on Tues. I wrote asking Ruby to come if convenient. Started on straightening the house but the strictures discommoded.

Warm muggy overcast day. Saddened to hear that Father Hartigan is dead. Ruby rang up. I rang Thelma & worked hard cleaning Mother's room & a bit in garden. Gathered dark plums. Rang May B & Marguerite Dale. Heard that Hodgson, former neighbor, is dead. In evening listened to Nutcracker Suite on Arthur's new machine.
