My dear Elizabeth –

This really is a xmas greeting
as this letter begins it [its] journey
on xmas eve and I with much
affection send my loving good
wishes to all around you – I
had a letter from Mr Chisholm
yesterday who tells me that
you have Arthur back to you looking
so well – he says he never saw
him look in such thorough good
health – Some one sent me a
Sydney Paper about a fort night
ago – the "Echo" in which there was
a most interesting acct almost [Deary?]
of one on board the The Chevertte [Chevert]

I read it all the more happily
as I know from a small
Telegram about six weeks
ago that all had returned
safely to Sydney – tho' had
you known while they were
there the half suspicious
