very dearly – he and his next
elder brother were for some years
with us as little boys – this one
James – of whom the Capt & Dr wrote
from Suez has arrived alive I
am thankful to say – but he
is very weak – they dare not risk
any excitement – and he has
not yet been told of his brothers
death – which must be a sad
additional stain on his poor
mother & sisters – the Dr enjoins
a life of complete idleness – not
even to write a letter – it seems such
a strange case – (with no previous
warning) of such a hopeless case
of heart complaint – he has
youth on his side poor dear
Jamie – and I trust I may
be able to speak more cheerily
next time – their home is near
London – so once I am up and
settled about a month hence
