Dear Pops -- Jan. 27, 1960

Just a card to say a special hello to you and Mrs. A, in addition to my letters which Mom is sending you. It's been very interesting in these first four weeks-never a single dull moment and hard to squeeze everything in. We're now getting ready for a 10 day trip to ItalyRome, Florence, Milan. The view is much like the one from my window, from where I can see at least 20 small villages like this one.

BEUTELBACH I. Remstal - Landgut Burg (Stanford-Universität)

Dear Gaws - Jan. 27, 1960

Here's a shot of the Burg-our home in these 6 exciting months. The large house is the girls' residence and also has the dining room for all of us. The building at far left is the classroom building-with our social-cellar (beer, records, etc.) in its basement. In the foreground are some of the vineyards which surround the Burg. What you can't see here is the breath taking view we have in almost every direction of the valleys and small towns below.

I hope that you are getting my letters from Mom-as to my trips to Munich, Nuremburg, etc. We leave this weekend for 10 days in Italy-6 in Rome as a group (including private audience with John XXIII I think) and then on our own to Florence + Milan.
