yesterday I saw a plane come right straight down out of nowhere and open with his M. Gun at a ballon the ballon started to burn & the the observer in it jumped out & down he came in his parachute I didn't find out whether he landed safely or not

give my love to Elza & all. The last letter I recieved from home was Aug. 5 and I am right anxious to hear again but as I am on the front I expect I won't recieve any. I have lots of German war material here. Grenades and amo, bombs, etc. Must close with lots of love Jack O.K. John N. Bentley 2nd Lt. 313 Inf.
