Letter (partial): Jack Bentley to unidentified, 1919

I am sending some queer ones of
the Germans I picked up here out of
a large collection.
Another deer shot but not by
me Ha. Ha. Just think I may be
home before the answer comes to
this letter, isn't that "bully."
"rather."
Give little "Peggy" my best
she is so sweet but its funny
how seldom I think of her in
When I think of home I invariable see
thee with a smile & arms outstretched
as devining. That's the attitude
I know thee best in & secret. Mother, were
it not for thee, home wouldn't be
home & I doubt if I would stay
in Sandy at all. Thee is my
anchor & I trust I may always
look to thee for the "Light". I am
Thine.
Jack
