Sandy Spring 4' day M.S.

Dear J. [SM...]

Your letter was rec.d. We are getting the Boys ready as fast as we can, tho' mother thinks it doubtful whether we can get Jordan ready in time, unless we leave some of his clothing & send it down afterwards.

The roads are too heavy to send on wheels with one horse if it could be by any means avoided.

We are in usual health, except that my throat is rather more uncomfortable than usual having perhaps taken some cold.

Affecly

E. Stabler

My Dear Margaret

I have had so much to do for Gilpin both knitting and sewing - that I have not had time to get Jordan ready yet I shall make him a pair of pantaloons but I have nothing for a coat, if I had time he ought to have long sleave shirts we want G to go on 7th day if fair matter tell me how thee thinks his Y shirts ought to be made with or without collars best thy Mother
