Dear Father;

As R. Kirk & Phebe F. are going
up to Sandy Spring this afternoon, we thought
it a good opportunity to let you hear from
Eddy again, as by mail, you could not hear
till 3rd-day. We do not perceive much
change either for the better or worse. His
bowels are in a very bad way indeed, but
he has little or no fever. The Dr sees
him three times a day, and is now here.
He has been giving him some gentle medicine
but so far, with but slight effect.
His countenance is good, and his eye quite bright,
both of which are encouraging symptoms.

Aunt Margaret & Phebe called to see him this
morning, and expressed the opinion that it
would be best to take the little fellow right
off to Sandy Spring, which in the hot and
oppressive weather of Summer, we all know
often acts like a charm in such cases; but
now, as the weather is so cool, I dont
know that it is so important. What do
you think about it?

We have been expecting mother down every
day, and shall most certainly expect her
to day. When she does get here we hope
she will stay at least one week. Margaret
says she can assist her with her sewing, so
that she can get more done in that line
by being here than at home.

Love to all; affec. son
