2nd month 1870

6th 18 I stayed all night at Grandfathers
woke up & found it raining so that
we could not go to town, Wm cutting
wood in morn, Father & self writing
& reading. After dinner I went up
to Sandy Spring after the mail.
got my shoe mendid etc etc.

7th 19 Wm & self with three horses hawled
wood all the morning after dinner
we hawled load of posts, which
Father split in the morning. I took
some harness up to Ashton to get
mendid in eve, & went on to Fulford
to hear from Cousin Mary Hallowell
but there was no news. Spent the evening with Gran
Clear & cold in morn but warm by evening.

1st 20 Father walked to meeting, I stayed
home with Corrie, Commenced
snowing at 8 PM & continued for an
hour when Thermometer fell to 24

2nd 21 Calebs 11th birth day. Thermometer at
12 N yesterday stood at 47 [degrees], this morn
at 7 AM stood at 7 [degrees], fall of 40 deg
in 19 hrs. I took Rose to shop
had two shoes put on. Father in
house in morn, to Colesville afternoon
Wm cutting wood.
